Chapter 7: Day 3 (2 of 2)

I received an anonymous package in the post today. It contained a single photo with something scrawled on the back. I could just make out the words "Keep your friends close, and your [indecipherable] nearer."

But, what could it possibly mean? The girl in the image bears a striking resemblance to the girl who has been staying under my roof. My dossier had indicated that my guests were known to associate with certain fringe elements of society (namely jazz musicians and Protestants), but what to make of it? Whatever it is, I can't shake the feeling that this photo is either some clue from the past, or some foreboding omen of things to come.
